Becky Dethero spent most her life in Cleveland, a small town in East Tennessee that is the Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. In this part of the Appalachian Mountain region, she gained her love for storytelling, lively music, good home cooking and a gratitude for kin. Becky says these are the same ingredients needed for Southern living.

In addition to new work, this book has favorite selections from Becky’s column, From the Porch Swing, which appeared in The Bradley News Weekly in her home town. Her slices of life stem from her Southern roots but they bear universal themes. They are things she would tell you if you sat together in a porch swing.

She currently lives in Florence, Alabama, with her husband John where she spends time in the porch swing with grandchildren.
